Nicaragua has been blessed with the most beautiful Pacific and Caribbean beaches in Central America.

Are you searching for uncountable miles of unspoiled, sandy beaches? Pristine is the word most frequently used to describe the beaches of Nicaragua. And they do not fail to match this description.

On the Pacific coast of Nicaragua, San Juan del Sur is often viewed as the most popular beach. The beach is located in a small fishing village at a distance of two hours from Managua, the capital of Nicaragua.

The shoreline is fairly broad and surrounded by volcanic hills. Moreover, for almost the entire year, the weather here is very kind, so that tourists - both Nicaraguans and foreigners - can enjoy warm, comfortable bathing in the ocean waters, guaranteed good surfing, diving and relaxing fishing activities.

Also, on the waterside, a number of bars and restaurants turn recreation on the San Juan del Sur beach into a very secure, fun and rewarding experience.

At half an hour from San Juan del Sur, another lovely beach is Playa Maderas. The beach is particularly renowned for its surfing opportunities, since the swell here is unique. In fact, at Playa Maderas the Nicaragua's national surf contest has been held for quite a few years now.

The time span favorable for surfing extends generously for a period of over 8 up to 9 months each year. Of course, besides surfing you can take delight in other activities as well, all of them activities of relaxation, like sunbathing, walking along the beach and watching the surfers.
