Canoeing the Waterways of Nicaragua
Experiencing
Paradise while Canoeing the Lakes, Rivers, Oceans and streams... Because there has been relatively little improvement in the country, you will still be able to enjoy many of the wonders that is has to offer. Much of the face of the country has also been altered by volcanic eruptions which only add to the amazing geography of Nicaragua. Although Nicaragua is the largest country in the Central America it is most sparsely populated of the Central American nations. Nicaragua borders are with Honduras to the north and Costa Rica to the south. It is a little bit larger than New York State. The country is mountainous in the west, with fertile valleys. Nicaragua and Managua lakes are connected by the Tipitapa River. The Pacific coast is volcanic and very fertile unlike the swampy Caribbean coast that is appropriately called the "Mosquito Coast.Even though there is so much water, the number of the boats is few. Some of the country's most incredible
paddle-accessible attractions are serviced by few and small fleets
of open, non-motorized free craft. The main amusement of Nicaragua is the gorgeous Lake Nicaragua. The activities best enjoyed by tourists are kayaking and canoeing, not to mention scuba diving and swimming. Lake Nicaragua, which is also known by the name of Lake Cocibolca, is one of the largest fresh water lakes in the whole world. Nicaragua is the largest country in Central American it contains the largest freshwater body in Central America, Lago de Nicaragua (Nicaragua Lake). The country's physical geography divides it into
three major zones: Pacific lowlands, the wetter, cooler central
highlands, and the Caribbean lowlands. Each of these areas is open
to canoeing. The trail is 3km long and complicated, even for the experienced hiker. It takes 1 to 2 hours to walk to the waterfall; it all depends on how fast you come along. The first kilometer is fairly flat and on a road. During the second kilometer, the path gets smaller and steeper. By the third kilometer, the path is wide enough for one person, very steep, and very rocky. Even so one of the most recommended activities is canoeing and it worth going to such trouble.
